support question: can you use different size disks in an array?
answer: you should use disks that are as similar as possible in speed and capacity (performance and space) specially for RAID1 and above. unfortunately, identifying these controllers can be tricky or difficult and many Linux controllers to don support RAID, but instead they provide some minimal books and windows drivers. these devices have no advantages in Linux over conventional controllers. If you use a hardware RAID controller, be sure to check its documentation, and the documentation the your Linux drivers. for example, if you need, we can provide you the drivers for HP proliant servers DL360 and DL380. also be sure to visit their website for any documentation regarding their use, any updates.
