hello and welcome to Webune Web Hosting.. This post is written just in case there is anyone outhere who might be expiriencing problem with their windows XP or server 2003 operating system. if you are also getting this error you might learn from our expirience.
isass.exe - System Error
Security Accounts Manager initialization failed because of the following error: A device attached to the sytem is not functioning. Error Status: 0xc0000001. Please Click Ok to shutdown this system and reboot inot Safe Mode. check the event log for more detailed information.
why did we get this error? prior to getting this errror, i had gone into the recovery console and rename some file in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Config - these are the file names i changed:
SAM
SAM.LOG
SOFTWARE
SOFTWARE.LOG
how did i fix it? i simply rename the files to their original name
if you are also getting this error it might have something to do with these file, they might be corrupted or missing. check to make sure you have these files

i didn't see recovery console

You have messed up your system files.Use Recovery Console from Windows Installation CD-ROM to fix your computer.

if you have windows xp or windows 2003 on your machine the problem is the SAM file located in c:\WINDOWS\System32\Config
now if you try to use a recovery console with windows xp or windows 2003, the system will ask you for a password, but you can't access it because the SAM file is all messed up so the system can't verify your password.
so this is how i did it. get a windows 2000 installation cd, and boot to the recovery console, this cd will not ask you for a password, so then you can use it to fix your problem with the SAM file

hello reboot ur pc bart pe cd and copy sam file from windows/repair/sam to windows/system32/config/sam and ur problem will be solved if it does not work contact me at rinku309 - at - hotmail

right you yes
