to make friendly urls, you will need apache's module mod_rewrite

for example, 90% of the traffic we receive on this forum is from search engines. as you may have noticed on our urls, you see the title of the page matches the url, instead of having a link like this for example:

we have a link more relevant to what the page is about:
http://www.webune.com/forums/wow-to-make-seo-links-with-apache.html
